Pharrell Williams already has his own Adidas line, burger and museum contribution aka his famous hat. All that’s missing? A statue, of course.
One artist however has rectified that with a life size chiseled wood rendering of the musician.
In Xavier Veilhan’s latest exhibit titled “Music,” Pharrell is immortalized for his work as the Neptunes, along with his bandmate Chad Hugo. The show, which takes place at Galerie Perrotin in Paris and New York, showcases pieces from the French artist’s “Producers” series, which is described as figurative sculptures of “music producers who are responsible for creating the soundtrack of our time.”
Among those, you’ll also find tributes to Brian Eno, Nigel Godrich, Quincy Jones and Rick Rubin that display the artists in a variety of positions—some unexpected. In Rubin’s sculpture, for instance, the Def Jam co-founder isn’t at work in the studio or standing tall like Pharrell. Instead he’s at rest on a cot.
